TIME SENSITIVE INFO.- Multi-day online assignments NOT accepted late for credit.

Technology issues- hard copies of assignments are acceptable if submitted by the assignment deadline, otherwise (email or shared Google doc ) are acceptable alternatives to CANVAS submission.

Welcome to Language Arts

Welcome to a new school year! My name is Zachary Giles, and I am excited to embark on this journey with you! This is not my first year teaching, but my first year at Franklin Township, so I look forward to growing and learning with you all. My hobbies include writing, playing the piano, and photography. I am passionate about what I do, and I hope you are passionate about learning. A helpful tip from someone who was in your shoes not too long ago: Learn to enjoy learning because you will NEVER stop learning in life. If you decide to enjoy it, you'll find a lot more positivity in life!

Class Expectations-

HONESTY- We are all here to learn. Mistakes happen. Own it; fix it; move forward.
RESPECT- Learning takes us OUT of comfort zones! Positive words/actions only.
This is your journey, but you never have to face the challenges alone.
100% EFFORT- Don’t hold back. Even if the task seems too challenging, give your BEST effort. Bring daily supplies. Participate in class. Make each little moment count.
At the end of the year, we will have MUCH to celebrate!

Late/Missing/Make-Up Work policy- Assignment submitted on the day due, prior to leaving school= no penalty
Assignment Submitted within twenty-four hours= 50% penalty…WHY FINISH if late or no credit?
ALL assignments are practice for skills on a summative assessment (65%) of final grade.
5/10 points in the Practice (10%) or Formative (25%) category has less negative grade impact than missing test items due to lack of practice.
